KRANJ, 14.2.2008 – Improvements of public administration work are among
the main goals of the Lisbon strategy, which has already been ratified
by Slovenia. Genis has presented its latest solutions for the connecting
and automation of public administration work at eGovernment Days, which
were held from 11. to 13. February at Brdo pri Kranju. At the event, Genis
presented interoperability solutions which simplify the work of officials,
for instance the PanEU service for a residency application or company registration
in Slovenia, IO-Kindergartens for decision-making on handling reduced kindergarten
payment applications and e-Births for the automated registration of newborns
in public registers. Eminent guests, including Siim Kallas, vice-president
of the European Commission, could test live in person the PanEU solution
which enables European citizens to register a permanent or temporary residency
and register single-member companies in Slovenia on-line, using a valid
digital certificate.
Slovenian public administration can offer European Union member states
and pan European institutions numerous good practices on developing quality
electronic services which improve efficiency and friendliness of public
administrations in accordance with the eGovernment Action Plan i2010.

"Slovenian public administration
is among the most advanced in Europe in the field of interoperability,
which is due to careful investments in informatization of basic public
registers," emphasized Stane Štefančič, director of Genis.
Slovenian public administration has taken
an excellent second place in European Union at the most recent electronic
services development survey. Advanced services which are being promptly
implemented are designed on quality back office system which consists of
national registers, such as Central Population Register, Register of Civil
Status and Register of Permanent Population.
"Genis is proud that practically the whole of Europe acknowledges
our public registers information solutions as good practice. By collaborating
on projects, such as PanEU, we will try to assert Genis's solutions also
in a wider European context," added Štefančič.
PanEU – connecting registers among EU countries
Genis has developed a web service for registering a permanent or temporary
residence in Slovenia for EU citizens. This service enables the fast
acquiring of a PIN and tax number upon submission of valid certified foreign
digital certificate. This way, EU citizens can file applications for acquiring
permanent or temporary residence in Slovenia faster, without Administration
Unit procedures and public administration procedures are also substantially
shortened. With acquired Slovenian identificators, obtained through a preliminary
registration procedure, users can also use all the other electronic services
of Slovenian public administration.
