 
LJUBLJANA, KRANJ, 23.6.2008 – On 19th and 20th June, Faculty of Administration
hosted 2nd International Symposium on the Development of Public Administration
in South East Europe which was attended by more than 80 participants and
lecturers from 13 countries, mostly from South East Europe (Serbia, Croatia,
Poland, Czech Republic, Kosovo, Armenia, Turkey, Albania, Macedonia, Italy,
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Slovenia). Symposium was organized by
the Faculty of Administration at the University of Ljubljana in cooperation
with international organization NISPAcee (The Network of Institutes and
Schools of Public Administration in Central and Eastern Europe).
This year's second symposium in the row was devoted to establishing bonds
and networks, connections and scientific cooperation upon development of
public administration in the countries of South East Europe. "With
our good practices upon development of advanced information solutions for
electronic operation, Genis wants to help public administrations throughout
Europe upon implementation of advanced electronic services for cooperation
between public administration institutions and operation with companies
and citizens," emphasized Stane Štefančič, the director of company
Genis, which was also the main sponsor of the symposium.
Participants of the symposium were mainly university professors from scientific
institutions, researchers, practical experts and individuals dealing with
various aspects of public administration development. There were plenary
sessions in the beginning and conclusion of the symposium, while the main
part was organized into six thematic panels, lead by renowned home and
foreign professors and experts:
1. Public Law, Systemic Aspects of Public Administration
and Local Governance (chairs: doc. dr. Polonca Kovač, doc. dr. Slobodan
Dujić)
2. Economic Issues of Public Sector (chairs:
prof. dr. Stanka Setnikar-Cankar, prof. dr. Walter Scherrer)
3. Organizational and Social Issues of Public
Sector (chairs: doc. dr. Primož Pevcin, dr. Aleksandra Rebrenović)
4. Training, Education and Research for Public
Administration (chairs: dr. Janez Stare, prof. dr. Mirjana Drakulić)
5. Taxation, Public Finance and Efficiency (chairs:
doc. dr. Maja Klun, prof. dr. Helena Blažić)
6. E-services and Information Systems (chairs:
doc. dr. Ljupčo Todorovski, mag. Ratko Drakulić)
