KRANJ, 21.09.2007 – Siim Kallas, vice-president of the European Commission
has revealed, in his opening speech to 4th Ministerial eGovernment Conference,
the results of the European Commission annual survey on the development
of electronic services in EU member states. The results of this year’s
survey are encouraging for Slovenia since it has risen from last year’s
seventh to an excellent second place. Among the key bearers of Slovenian
success is the company Genis which has, with its core solutions, enabled
the up-to-date electronic operation of Slovenian public administration.
Upon the occasion of this widely recognized success, Genis and other contractors
and partners cooperating in ensuring the services of eGovernment were officially
received by minister of public administration, dr. Gregor Virant.
Stane Štefančič, director of the company Genis: “This accomplishment
is by all means a great acknowledgement for Genis. Namely we have taken
care of informatization and the connection of most of the national registers
for more than 10 years and thus established a foundation for Slovenian
eGovernment.” Štefančič also emphasized that despite the fact Genis’s
contributions to users of eGovernment services are not visible, without
them, the services would not be operational at all.
For the needs of Slovenian eGovernment, Genis has developed and also performs
maintenance for the following information solutions which has enabled a
quantitative and qualitative leap in their e-services offer for citizens
and businesses:
· Central Population Register – CPR (with the
ability to view one’s own personal data)
· Integral set of SOA services enabling the
linking of the CPR with other national registers and online access to the
CPR
· Population Register with information support
for the work of Administrative units in the area of central register matters.
· Permanent Population Register with information
support for the work of Administrative units in the area of household residence
records and voting right holders records.
· Integral information system for support of
the execution of National Assembly and local elections
· Information system for issuing of biometric
passports
· Information support for Aliens and Asylum
Seekers Register
Vice-president Kallas especially emphasized the substantial progress of
Slovenia, Malta and Estonia in his speech, of which Slovenia had emerged
in first place. Electronic services development survey in EU member states
is carried out each year by an independent organization CapGemini which
surveys 20 services for citizens and 12 services for businesses.
The survey results are published on the Commission’s website:
